Lauren Carter

My name is Lauren and I’ve been working with Amber since February of 2016. My passion for fitness began after a very difficult time in my life. I had just gotten a divorce after only being married for 6 months at the young age of 21. He was emotionally abusive and instead of dealing with it, I controlled the one thing I felt I could control, what went into my mouth (or what didn’t go into my mouth really). I weighed a whole 112 pounds at 5’7 coming out of that relationship. 

Someone I was working with at the time suggested that I go see her personal trainer. She told me that working out had made her feel so good and thought that it would help me, she couldn’t have been more correct. Working out gave me something I could take all of my frustrations out on and now, instead of harming myself, I was bettering myself. 

Another friend of mine at the time had been competing in the NPC. She reached out to me via Facebook because she saw all of the fitness related posts I had been putting up. She thought I would do great in the bikini division and suggested I start competing with her, which sounded like a fantastic idea at the time. Insert terrible, big name, money hungry, fitness company here. I did minimal research on who I picked to be my coach mainly because several people I knew suggested I work with this “team”. My coach was uneducated and also did not listen to anything I was telling her. I lifted for about an hour a day, then did cardio for an hour. I never ate more than 1,500 calories per day. As the competition got closer they even INCREASED my cardio to an hour and a half. I also have a very active and demanding job that requires me to be on my feet for sometimes 13 hours a day (my coach was informed about my job several times). I felt terrible and to top it all off this made my relationship with food even worse. I was STARVING. But I felt like I had to stick to what I was being told to eat. This would send me into several binges a week where I would literally sit and eat everything in the kitchen. 

I went through several coaches after that, all of whom were definitely way better than my first but, I still felt like I was missing something. I stepped away from competing and really from following any sort of diet. At that point in time is when I found Amber via social media. I followed several people she was coaching at the time and while I thought they looked fantastic, I also was very intrigued by her flexible dieting method. 

When I first started working with Amber in February 2016 I originally just signed up to receive personalized workouts. The workouts were challenging and I absolutely LOVED them. I worked with her strictly just receiving workouts until October of 2016. In the midst of my family opening a new restaurant and me having just been sick, I lost 6 pounds and I could not gain any back. I spoke with Amber about my frustrations and she suggested that  we add the nutrition plan so that we could properly add weight back on. I was hesitant because I hated all of the “diets” I had been put on up until this point. I had finally gotten to the point of being comfortable with any and all foods, I didn’t want to start “dieting” again. The ONLY reason I was comfortable enough to agree to following a form of a diet is because of Ambers IIFYM style of TRACKING. It was never even called a diet, because it wasn’t a diet. Amber informed me that we would be working on a reverse diet together. Slowly increasing my intake so that we could build muscle without adding too much fat. She made the entire process an absolute breeze. Making me feel so comfortable, answering any and all questions I ever had. 

I cannot say enough good things about Amber. She’s a diamond in the rough in the fitness industry and has been an absolute blessing in my life. We have been through a couple of reverses and also a mini cut. My physique has changed in ways I never imagined it could. I’ve never been happier or healthier.

The third picture is from the very beginning with Amber and the last picture is now. Keep in mind when we first started working together she was not doing my macros. She’s helped me make leaps and bounds with my physique and I can’t wait to see what else we accomplish together!
